Welcome to this site. If you're just browsing please feel free to take a look around. On the other hand if you're a person who's had a psychosis or have suffered schizophrenia, please read on and find out how you can help bring our experience to the world. I say our because I suffered a psychosis in 1997 also. I am currently gathering ideas and concepts together to form the basis of a major film script. With this web-site I hope to reach those who have suffered this illness in the hope that some would be moved to share their experiences. At the moment the script is being conceived, as I research deeper into the phenomenon of "mental breakdown". I myself will refrain from giving my experience here because I don't want to influence the types of responses I receive, but I would more than happily e-mail the outline of my experience if anyone is interested. I recognize that my experience (by that I mean what my belief system has been able to make of the psychosis) is going to be different from others. However I'm also certain that there is bound to be correlations between our experiences as well. Collectively, just what are psychosis and schizophrenia trying to tell us, if anything. Several books have been written about the experience of psychosis & schizophrenia. How it is regarded ranges according to a mixture of views that consider biology, psychology, and sociocultural factors. The medical community has contributed to our understanding, providing us with the terminology of mental illness as "chemical imbalance". However if your grappling with understanding this phenomenon, then the medical model proves only partly satisfying since it says nothing about the nature of such episodes. If to understand psychosis and schizophrenia we consult perspectives that are medical in origin alone, we will never gain a holistic understanding since we are more than just a temporal mind and a body. What interests me as a writer is the concepts that make up our subjective experience. And this is what I intend to bring to the screen. From my encounter, I was left with certain thoughts deeply imprinted on me, yet I was also left with some questions unanswered. In order for me to represent the phenomenon accurately, I wish to present different experiences. Aspects that are of particular interest have to do with; Why does the person having the occurrence believe it is happening to them. What has it told them about what choices they have made. What has caused the experience, could it have been avoided or was it destined to happen? Is it simply an illness or are there spiritual messages interwoven within the events, be that of light or darkness. How has it changed the persons life? What are the things about your experience that you wouldn't ordinarily divulge? I encourage you to e-mail me and share your experience.
